Have you ever had an idea that you thought a company might be interested in? And have you ever thought that business managers might be interested in hearing from their customers? This is the situation i found myself in recently.
I have a great idea for Nintendo which i would have happily discussed with their marketing people. No i was told–we do not talk to our customers about ideas? Can you believe it? How can you become a customer focussed, market-driven company if you don’t talk to your customers? What are the Nintendo people so afraid of? Have they not heard of the concept of open innovation?
Besides a spokesperson said, we are simply the distributers of product from Japan. What a cop out. Who would want to work for a company that just distributed products no questions asked? Not to be put off i asked for the key contacts of the people in Japan (head office) so that i could contact these people direct but alas they could not supply these.
Can you beleive this? What hope does large business have when it is not willing to engage in a conversation with its customers? Why do i scare them so much?
If you have had a similar experience i would love to hear from you.

hi,
Very true…. but you know what i work for a similar company like this… we are one of the large manufacturers of valves probably one of the leader. I hate to call ourselves this way for several reasons.
we have a state of art R&D with innovation as the key word but our ppl and culture are hardly inclined to innovate or is worst receptive towards change.
Being a lone advocate of knowledge sharing and making innovation work rather than talking, i share lot of points with you…. I’ve been visiting u frequently … just wanted to share this..
btw however if you are running any statcounters and have foundout the exact host of the ip please keep it to yourself…
