Participants:

Up to 16 managers or leaders, ideally cross-functional.

Core Concept:

To create a real innovating experience with some urgency based around a high priority problem or opportunity-a big elephant! (identified by the leadership team).

Rationale:

Middle managers can learn the innovative tools, skills and behaviors whilst working through a pressing problem. Managers can provide high energy for a short period of time.

Outcomes:

  • New solutions to a high priority problem.
  • New innovative thinking skills and tools.
  • The culture is changed one group at a time.

The 30 day Innovation Concept

  • The problem is selected by the leadership team
  • Needs to be a problem or opportunity that can be tested within 30 days
  • Must present new solutions with business case at the end of 30 days
  • Also can test the performance of an ‘out of the box’ team
  • Ideally it should be a Cross functional team Complements & supports existing innovation initiatives
  • Need occasional Leadership input & initial funding.
